Admissions Policies and Procedures
Applications are accepted year round.
For admissions information, email

The Oakwood School seeks students who demonstrate characteristics consistent with the mission of the school. Emphasis is placed
on attracting a diverse student body who will meet the challenges of the curriculum and who possess the potential for success in our
academic setting. Students with a variety of talents, experiences, and backgrounds are admitted based on academic achievement, academic testing, personal interviews, and teacher recommendations. The goal of the admissions process is to determine whether Oakwood
is a good environment for the students social, emotional, and intellectual development.
ADMISSION PROCESS PRE-KINDERGARTEN
- Prospective Pre-Kindergarten students must be four years of age by August 31 of enrollment year.
- To initiate the admission process, parents must complete the application form and schedule a school visit with the Director of Admissions.
- Group visits of six to eight children occur in January, during which the children participate in group-time, gross motor screening, fine motor screening, and interactions with the teachers and other candidates.
- If a prospective Pre-Kindergarten child applies after the regular screening for candidates has occurred, the prospective student has a class visit in the current Pre-Kindergarten class and/or an individual screening.
- The Admissions Committee meets to discuss the classroom observations and the teacher recommendations (if the child has previously attended a pre-school) to determine if The Oakwood School is the right match for the applicant.
- The Admission Committee informs the parents of its decision by mail.
