JV Boys 10-6 lost in CPIC Conference Tournament Championship Game

Varsity Boys 17-5 Won in CPIC Conference Tournament Championship Game

The JV Girls, JV Boys, and Varsity Girls played their hearts out but fell to worthy opponents. The Boys’ Varsity team, however, came home with the championship trophy defeating the number one ranked small independent school in the state, Greenfield!

Swimming

Congratulations to all swimmers for a great season!  Sarah and I are so proud of what the kids accomplished this year.  Each and every team member improved times over the season to bring us to runners-up in our conference for girls and boys this year.  (Our trophies are on top of the trophy case in the gymnasium hall!)

This year, all-conference swimmers for our team were:  Ellie Cahill, Casey Sokolovic, and Kelly Oglesby.  Our all-conference CPIC player of the year was Jon Schwartz.

Swimmers who achieved first place in our conference meet were:

K. Oglesby-  200 IM, 500 freestyle

2012 FALL SPORTS
Volleyball

Varsity overall (26-9) conference (8-2)

Seeded #4 in the NCISAA State Playoffs, the Lady Eagles beat #13 seed Ridgecroft, #12 seed Pungo and #1 seed Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill for a spot in the championship game.  Lost to #2 The Elon School in championship to earn NCISAA volleyball state runnersup. Caroline Collier was named to the All State team.

Varsity  Cross Country

State Meet

WOW….Way to go to our runners at the State NCISAA Cross Country State Meet.  Among the 54 women in Division 1A running the 5K course at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Casey Sokolovic finished in 4th place with a time of 21:26 and Bethany Garrison finished 9th with a time of 22:03.  Based on their top ten finishes, Casey and Bethany were awarded All-State medals.

Competing in the Men’s 1A Division for Oakwood were Arick Grootveld, Colin Keiper, and Christopher Lindbeck.  The coach of Oakwood Cross Country is Ryan Dunn.

 

Conference Meet

Great job to Casey Sokolovic and Bethany Garrison who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively out of 26 runners at the Conference Cross Country Meet hosted by The Epiphany School.  Casey missed 1st by only 3 seconds!

Out of 31 male runners, Chris Lindbeck, Colin Keiper and Arick Grootveld ran well with times of 22:20, 23:21 and 23:28 in which positions were very closely timed.

All of our Cross Country runners will be participating in the state meet Friday 10/28.
