Upper School Summer Camps 2008

SAT Prep: English
Dates:  August 4-8 
Time:  10:15am-12:15pm
Cost:  $175
Location:  The Oakwood School Upper School

The SAT English camp will focus on the two English sections of the SAT--the essay portion, including the grammar section; and the reading comprehension section. Students will be introduced to grading procedures of the essay as well as strategies and organizational structures to use in writing the 25 minute, timed essay. Students will become aquainted with the types of prompts and how to best use the allotted time. In addition, students will learn how the reading comprehension section of the SAT is organized and how that knowledge can best be used to maximize a student's score. Other strategies for multiple choice questions will also be discussed and students will complete practice tests. Students will need to purchase Princeton Review's Cracking the SAT 2008 edition (ISBN 0375766065).

 

Math Camp
Dates:  August 4-8
Time: 8am-10am
Cost:  $175
Location:  The Oakwood School Upper School

A Math camp will be offered for students that have completed Algebra II and/or are taking Pre-Calculus in the fall. Students will review and master key material needed for Pre-Calculus.Students will practice math problems and discover connections with the concepts of Algebra II so as to prepare for Pre-Calculus.
