Upper School Clubs
The Upper School clubs are designed to offer a variety of experiences to all students in Upper School. Each club has an advisor and follows the guidelines detailed within the school handbook. Club offerings are based on the interests of the students and can include students from multiple grades who have common interests.
Book Club: Is your night light burning into the wee hours of the morning? Have you been caught with the latest edition of your favorite author in the pages of your Western History book? If so, this may be your new adventure. We are calling all students who have an interest in reading. To qualify as a member, students will read a book and then meet for discussion during lunch on the second Friday of each month. Also, upcoming literary events will be announced to all of the members. Advisor: Mrs. Jennifer Smith
Candy Striper: If you really have an interest in a healthcare career this opportunity may be one to choose. Membership is open to students who perform volunteer work in the hospital. Organizational meetings are held once or twice a year with the advisor. Individual students will have training prior to volunteering; then they are responsible for their credit hours. Advisors and parents will arrange transportation. Advisor: Nancy Bouldin
Chess Club: Membership is open to Upper School students with an option offered to Middle School students at the discretion of the advisor. Meetings are the second and fourth Thursday of each month, 3:15-4:00 pm. Advisor: Mr. Eric Zeltmann
Culture Club: Seeing a favorite play with your friends can be so much fun! Listening to a special CD after a great cup of coffee can ease away your stress. Organizational meetings are held twice a year with the advisor to determine the Culture Club activities. The advisor will arrange activities based on the interests of the students. A log will be maintained of the students’ participation. Lists of upcoming events will be posted in the Upper School hallway to allow students to sign up for various activities. Advisors and/or parents will arrange transportation for Culture Club activities. The advisor will purchase tickets for those students who sign up but the students will be responsible for reimbursement of the fees.
