Welcome to the 2024-25 school year from your Parent Service Association (PSA)!

Welcome to The Oakwood’s School 29th year of educating young people in Greenville, Pitt County, and surrounding areas. My family has been honored to be a part of the Oakwood School community for 8 years and I am excited to head the Parent Service Association’s (PSA) Executive Committee this year. Throughout the year, the PSA spearheads a number of efforts and events whose aim is to build a rich, supportive community around our teachers, staff, students, and families. Here’s the good news! If you are a parent or guardian of a current student, you are already a member! Our Executive Committee meets the first Tuesday of every month and we host an open meeting annually each spring. However, you don’t need to wait until then to become a part of our leadership and help guide our efforts, just email me at kristy.ecu@gmail.com for more information.

Our PSA is able to host amazing events throughout the year thanks to the generosity of our parent volunteers and the Executive Committee. Here are some of the great efforts our leaders and volunteers (this means you) help support:

• Tears & Cheers Breakfast - held for PK3 through K and new families on the stage in Monk Gym on the first day of school immediately following drop-off.
• Eagle Fest - our AMAZING annual school year kick-off event for the entire school community. Bake Sales - More than just cookies; sales also include pre-made dinners and chili and a variety of other delicious delights!
• Oakwood Parent Social - Ditching the kids for the evening is a must for some great adult time.
• The “Jolly Cart” - begun during COVID as a way to boost teacher and staff morale, the Jolly Cart—loaded with snacks and goodies—has become a must-have surprise for teachers and staff periodically throughout the year.
• International Night - A time for the many cultures of Oakwood to shine and share our diverse school community.
• Family Bingo and a Family Movie Night in the gym.
• Assistance in Grandparents & Special Friends Day.
• Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheons at the winter holiday and in May during Teacher Appreciation Week.
• Fundraising for needed school improvements beyond the school’s annual budget.
• The annual Oakwood PSA Essay Scholarship awarded to a graduating senior each year.
• Facilitation with room parents to help with field trips, class parties, and classroom support.

Everything the PSA does is only possible because of our volunteers. We ask you to consider volunteering on any level, whether it’s baking (or buying—no judgment here) a batch of cookies, or helping set up for one of our many events.
