The Oakwood School is a PK3, PK4, K-12, coed, non-sectarian independent school setting the bar for a 21st Century education teaching the whole child through hands-on, experiential learning.
Admissions
The Oakwood School seeks students who demonstrate characteristics consistent with the mission of the school. The goal of the admissions process is to determine whether Oakwood is a good environment for the student's social, emotional, and intellectual development.
Academics
As educators, we establish a school climate that nurtures student growth so that our students will ultimately become independent, wise, creative, thoughtful, and engaged citizens who can manage their time, work in a team, set goals, and problem solve effectively.
Athletics
At The Oakwood School, the interscholastic athletic program is an important part of the student’s experience. Oakwood is committed to providing competitive opportunities through interscholastic, recreational, and intramural sports programs.
Fine Arts
The Fine Arts programs at Oakwood offer wonderful experiences that serve as a catalyst for students to explore and realize their creative potential. We have created a very intentional arts curriculum knowing that the arts are an essential and critical part of human expression and the human experience.

At Oakwood, our goal is to shape our students to be: people of integrity, lifelong learners, leaders, confident individuals, empathetic citizens of the world, disciplined, insightful, and courageous thinkers and learners. It is Oakwood’s vibrant culture of philanthropy that has sustained our ability to fulfill this goal.
Get Involved
One of the founding principles of Oakwood was to encourage parent participation and become an integral part of the school. Parent volunteer groups support our students through the generosity of their time and resources helping strengthen student programs, build community, and provide support for our faculty.

Eagle Booster Club

The mission of the Eagle Booster Club is to promote athletics at The Oakwood School in an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of the school community. We promote school spirit and sportsmanship, in addition to encouraging attendance at Oakwood athletic events.

81% of our students in grades 7 through 12 participate in at least one sport each year.
Carolinas Independent Conference (CIC) and is a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association.
Oakwood has 24 total sports teams in Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels.
Sports programs include Boys and Girls Basketball, Tennis, and Soccer; Co-ed Swimming and Golf; Girls Softball and Volleyball; and Boys Baseball
All Oakwood families are members of the Eagle Booster Club.
Admission to all home games is free to Oakwood families
