The Oakwood School's Parent Service Association (PSA) strives to improve the quality of overall campus life by providing programs and activities that encourage participation by the whole School community. The mission of the PSA at Oakwood is to assist in the promotion of the excellence for the School through active parental involvement.

A Letter from PSA President, Mollie Thaxton

Dear Oakwood Community,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year from your Parent Services Association! We could not support our amazing staff and wonderful children if it were not for you.

As the opening statement of our By-Laws reads, “The Parents of the Oakwood School care deeply about their children’s education, every parent/guardian is already a member of the PSA and we encourage you to get involved. We are truly looking forward to meeting families, parents/guardians, and grandparents that would like to get involved with our PSA this school year. Everything we do is based on volunteers and we are looking to you to help us make a difference in the lives of our children and the Oakwood community.

The PSA Executive Board organizes all members (all parents/guardians) to achieve the above mission. We interact several times a month, collaborating ideas, formally meeting with administrative representatives, and informally discussing ways in which we can enrich our school. The moments our children spend at Oakwood will soon become cherished memories. Our desire is to make these some of the very best times for all of us. Events we have hosted to promote Oakwood’s tremendous sense of community include Big Step Breakfast, Kickoff Events, Family Bingo, Virtual game nights, Bake Sales and Grandparents and Special Friends Day. Over the last several years we have raised funds to support Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunches, grants for 3D printer, buses, along with classroom and playground enhancements. We also facilitate the system of room parents to help with field trips, class parties and classroom support. At the beginning of this year, we especially invite you to consider volunteering on any level.

There is no better way to impact your children’s experiences than to be involved in your school and the PSA. We can all work together to make this year great! I am truly honored to serve as your PSA President this year. Our volunteer form is listed on the webpage right below. Come join us!

Sincerely,

Mollie Thaxton
